THE RED CORNER
NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 2nd, 2026
Happy Monday team!
Thanks to everyone who came out for our casual Halloween Happy Hour on Saturday! We’ll make sure to schedule something a little more robust in the coming month or two to really close out the year.
We are right back into the swing of competition this week as a number of our athletes step onto the mats at Tap Cancer Out on Saturday! The TCO organization passes through Philadelphia every Fall and always hosts a friendly and competitive Jiu Jitsu tournament. It’s become somewhat of a yearly tradition for us and 2026 is no exception. I’ll make sure to report back on our next newsletter with results!
Tim Green flies out to Madrid today as part of ISKA’s US National Team. Tim is competing for the world championship in Muay Thai and has never looked sharper! You may have already seen some of the “TIMBO” shirts around the gym — we have a number still available at the desk for $25. Proceeds go directly to Tim to help cover the costs of training, travel, and competition, which are many!
Makhi and Ayden step back into the ring on Saturday, 11/14 in the Bronx! We don’t have any physical tickets in the gym, but anyone who wants to make the trip is welcome to come. Fights start around 5pm an the card is STACKED. We’ll update you with any streaming options as we get into fight week.
That’s about it! Remember, clocks were set back yesterday so training this week is going to feel a bit weird. Power through it and we’ll be back to normal in no time. I’ll see you on the mats!
