NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
WEEK OF OCTOBER 19th, 2026
Happy Monday team!
Out of the frying pan and into the fire. I got home last Sunday at 8pm (after 22 hours door to door traveling back from Spain), was right back into classes Monday morning. I also just got home (it’s 6:30pm on Sunday as I’m writing this) from the WBC Tournament in Maryland. What a week! And it’s been awesome.
Let’s take a moment to congratulate Ade Solebo on winning the 2026 WBC North American Tournament! Ade has had an incredible run so far this year, improving to 5-0 and capturing two major tournament titles along the way. He has an uncommon work ethic, and an appreciation for the moment. Although our time and opportunity can often feel endless, it is unfortunately finite. There will, eventually, be the last day we train, the last day we compete, the last day we step on the mats.
One of the greatest attitudes you can have is to treat every day like both your first and your last day on the mats. Treat it like your first, with the eagerness to absorb information and keep an open mind; treat it like your last, with the appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to do something incredible.
Plenty of big moments coming down for Ade in the pipeline, so remember the name!
Tim Green flies to Madrid, Spain at the end of the month as a member of the US National Team as he competes for gold at ISKA Worlds. This will be Tim’s second appearance on the US National Team and he has improved by leaps and bounds since his 2024 debut in Vienna. He just continues to grow as a fighter and I believe he will have an incredible run this year!
Beyond that, we’re back to work this week! There are a few athletes set to take on the Tap Cancer Out BJJ Tournament in early November so make sure to pack the mats! We will be running Sunday BJJ off-schedule training from 9-11am for the next two weeks in preparation for the event (gi only), so jump in if you want to get some extra work in.
I’ll see you on the mats!
