HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE
WEEK OF 8/10/2026
Catastrophic failures don’t happen in incremental phases. One moment, everything is fine.. and the next, a retaining wall collapses and floods the area below it.
When it comes to technical growth in combat sports, a similar dynamic is often in place. It really can feel like we are just hitting a wall over and over and over again and getting nowhere. Training day in and day out and nothing seems to change.
Well, hydrostatic pressure is like that too. Adding a little bit of water doesn’t necessarily put a little crack in the wall. We have to build the pressure up over time until we reach an inflection point, at which point we break through into a new way of doing things.
So don’t expect to always see growth in small, tidy increments. That’s not how it works. We have to build up the pressure on ourselves until we break through into a new dynamic.
