Spring has sprung!
Not much to announce for this week, except a ton of awesome training on the books. Next week, however, please note that on 3/31 we’ll be running a BJJ Team open mat.
What does that mean? Well, just rounds and rounds and rounds.. gi, nogi, whatever. Let’s pack the mats and get some rolling in. Simple!
We also have a tentative date for our next Fit Jitsu and Junior Samurai youth BJJ showcase: Saturday, April 25th. Stay posted for details. Our first “Grapple at the Chapel” was a huge success and we’ll be making this next one even bigger!
As we move into warmer weather, just a quick reminder: DO NOT STORE YOUR GEAR IN A BAG AFTER USE 🙂 Clean it, and let it air out. We consider equipment functionally “broken” even if its in mechanically good shape, but has a nasty stink to it. The fastest way to develop a funk in your gear is to stash it away after use in a dark, warm area. This goes for ALL gear: shinguards, gloves, gis, handwraps, etc. Let’s not speedrun ringworm and staph infections this year and stay mindful that safety encompasses a lot of things, including hygiene!

- 3.29 SUNDAY – Grapple at the Chapel: Folkstyle Edition @ 2:30pm. We are exploring the integration of folkstyle wrestling into our youth programming, and we are excited to host a folkstyle wrestling open mat for students in 7-12th grades! This event requires 2+ years of folkstyle wrestling experience. You can register your child here: Grapple in the Chapel 3.29 Registration
- 3.31 TUESDAY – BJJ TEAM OPEN MAT. No fluff, no nonsense. Just rounds on rounds. Come get it in! Gi and nogi. Open to all students.
- 4.18 SATURDAY – Freedom Fighter Promotions feat. Tim Green.. More info TBA!
- 4.25 SATURDAY – Grapple at the Chapel: Fit Jitsu and Junior Samurai showcase and awards!
- 5.8 – 5.10 WEEKEND – ISKA National Tournament.
