BLINK AND FIX YOUR BRAIN
WEEK OF 1/5/26
In 2011, actor Charlie Sheen had a moment. It was a very public, possibly very manic moment. But it was his moment for better or worse.
He said a lot of wild stuff, but one thing actually stuck with me. I was in the middle of my professional fighting career and existed on a similar elevated state of consciousness. It’s hard to explain, but when you are working out like a madman every day and maintaining a caloric deficit things start to get a little weird 🙂
Charlie said “I blinked and fixed my brain.”
To most people, that probably sounded silly, if not a little crazy. And it is. But that phrase resonated deeply with me.
We spend so much time trying to figure out how to make the changes we want in our life. So much research, so much planning, so many metnal simulations of how things might go. And in this tempest of activity we’re just flying around violently in circles, getting nowhere.
Meanwhile, Charlie — filled with his “tiger blood” — simply blinks and fixes his brain.
So I stopped planning, researching, and ultimately procrastinating. I simply blinked and fixed my brain.
Because truly every new moment is a new opportunity to change something. Change starts with a decision, then continues into action. Blink, fix your brain, and go. Most of the time, it’s really that simple!
Want to start a diet? Blink, fix your brain, and stop eating junk food.
Want to get in better shape? Blink, fix your brain, and go to the gym.
Want to spend less time on your phone? Blink, fix your brain, and turn it off.
Now, obviously, it’s also not that simple. But taking action towards your goals — even if you don’t have everything perfectly mapped out yet — is a powerful motivator for you to take other actions towards your goals.
So when I find myself getting stuck, not sure how to move forward, often I’ll just take a deep breath, blink, and fix my brain.
