Big congrats to Xavier, Dashaun, Jihad, Brandon, and Jason on their performances yesterday at the 8 Limbs MOC! All athletes showed up ready to go and put on some solid performances. For those eager to compete, getting competitive “reps” in is the fastest way to improve so it’s essential to step up and be ready when these events come around. We will see the crew back in action on 11.15 at the WKA scrimmage. Also, thank you to coaches Sam and Gianna for stepping up and taking lead.
Hope everyone had a fun, safe, and spooky Halloween weekend! Looking forward to November we will have some schedule adjustments for Thanksgiving, but until then it’s smooth sailing.
CLINCH CLASS RETURNS TO THE SCHEDULE
This week, our Thursday night 7:30pm boxing class returns back to Clinch! Students at any experience level can attend — clinching is the stand up, grappling portion of Muay Thai that emphasizes positional control, leverage, and angles to create assymetrical advantage. A good clincher can easily shut down even the most explosive opponent, and competency in the clinch is an absolute MUST for any nak muay.
Since this is a grappling class, please make sure that you have trimmed nails (hands and feet) as well as shinguards, KNEE PADS, and a mouthguard. 120z gloves are find and will most often not be used, but bring them anyway.
INTRO TO BJJ CLASSES CONTINUE
We had a great time showcasing the foundations of BJJ in our Intro to BJJ workshops last week. Due to demand, we have scheduled a “make-up” class for Wednesday, 11.5, at 7:30pm. Our second class, “Intro to BJJ 2: Dynamic Pinning” is also announced for 11.12 @ 7:30pm (Wednesday as well).

- 11.5 – Intro to BJJ Makeup Class @ 7:30pm — REGISTER HERE
- 11.6 – Clinch class begins on Thursdays (replacing boxing). Shinguards, kneepads, deodorant, and trimmed nails are required 🙂
- 11.15 – No Competition training due to the WKA Smoker at CFS Aademy
- 11.27 – Closed for Thanksgiving. Friday + Saturday schedules may be adjusted.
- 12.6 – Freedom Fighting Promotions in Jamaica, Queens.
