NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

WEEK OF APRIL 14th, 2025

Happy Monday Team!

We just wrapped up a huge week of testing and competition!  

On Thursday, we passed our latest class of Level 2 Striking students at the shorts test!  Congrats to everyone who tested: Jared, Colin, Allison, Carmen, Ed, Billy, Autumn, Justin, Zakir, and Carolyn!  Unfortunately as the shorts are made in the North Pole, occasionally there are customs issues and it seems Santa’s package is still stuck somewhere waiting to get through so we will have those shorts for you ASAP!

On Saturday, we headed to Grappling Industries for a full day of Jiu Jitsu competition.  Grappling Industries is unique in that it operates in a round robin format, so each competitor gets many, many matches through the day.  It’s an absolute marathon.  With that said, big congrats to Roxy and Kyle for earning gold, as well as silver + bronze (in two different divisions).  Ryan, Bob, and Mike had full brackets and did not place but overall had some great moments.  Great work!

Moving forward into the month, we have the WKA Scrimmage on April 26th in Reading, PA and then the ISKA National Tournament on May 3-4th.  Going to be a busy couple of weeks.  

In the meantime, we’re still rocking and rolling as normal on the mats!
