GO AS FAR AS YOU CAN SEE
WEEK OF 2/10/25
“Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see farther.” – Thomas Carlyle
In my experience, at every stage of my martial arts journey (including now), I’ve always been frustrated with the inability to see the end goal. To see the final form, the final technique, the final destination to which I am working.
This journey is filled with peaks and valleys — you will often find yourself fumbling about in the valley, searching for any high ground you can find just to eventually get your bearings. And when you do, you set your sights on the next peak and descend again into that often confusing space between.
When it feels overwhelming, simply just go as far as you can see.
Yes, you may not be on the most efficient path towards your goal. Nobody is, and hindsight is 20/20.
However, sitting around and doing nothing while you try to optimize your path is an exercise in futility and something that will fool you into feeling like you are making progress.
You have to, at all times, keep moving forward, towards the end of your line of sight. You will be able to see farther when you get there.
