NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

WEEK OF OCTOBER 21st, 2024

 

Happy Monday Team!

Busy week coming up on the coaching side with both myself and coach Valor out of the country for some international competition.  In short, we will be running our regular schedule with the exception of Thursday AM classes which are cancelled.

All other classes are on as normal!

I’m heading to Vienna, Austria on Tuesday to help coach Team USA alongside North Star athletes Gianna Vadino and Tim Green.  Gianna is the returning ISKA World K1 and Muay Thai champ and Tim will be making his international debut.  Regardless of the outcome, both athletes have worked incredibly hard and I am extremely excited for them to take this next step in their careers.

The ISKA National Team is comprised of nearly two dozen athletes and coaches from around the country and features the best of the best currently out there competing.  Should be a fun time (jet lag aside).  I’ll be on the mats tonight, and will return Monday the 28th for AM classes.  Too much to do, no time to rest!

Coach Valor flies out to Abu Dhabi this week to take on the #7 world ranked athlete Riki Yoshinaga at ADXC 6!  The event starts around 11am EST — you can find streaming/PPV information here.

In the grappling world, Coach Will returns for another Judo workshop this Tuesday @ 7:30pm and the team continues to prepare for Tap Cancer Out in early November!  Make sure to get on the mats to support your teammates as they prepare for one of the best-vibed tournaments on the East Coast.  And if you are interested in competing — see a coach!  BJJ competition is a great way to accelerate your progress and will expose you to an entirely new world of possibilities, challenges, and imperatives in the art.  It’s easy to get on the mats and see what you can cook up!

Not much else to report — keep the fires stoked while I’m away and I’ll see you all on the other side of a ton of Muay Thai, cappuccino, bratwurst, and jetlag 🙂
