MONDAY MINDSET: FEAR IS A COMPASS
WEEK OF 04.08.24
Fear is a compass.
Well, not always. We don’t necessarily want to run into a pack of hungry, wild wolves.
But when pursuing our passions, we often find that fear will not let us freely move forward.
Often this is fear of failure, fear of embarrassment, or even fear of change. Who will I become if I fail? How will I be seen?
And in many cases, we are afraid of who we may become if we are successful. Maybe we fear success; we feel undeserving of it (and therefore fear that it will be taken away from us). Or maybe we have a myopic view of our own successes in life, that they have been the results of good fortune rather than something earned, and that eventually our “real” character will soon be exposed.
What lies behind that closed door guarded by fear?
The truth is, nothing worth having comes easy or cheap. You have to spend the effort, the money, the sweat, with no guarantee of return. Only then, maybe, will you receive what you are looking for.
And fear is our mind’s way of telling us to play it safe. To remind us that there are no guarantees in life. That failure is possible. That things can go wrong.
But things can also go right. The presence of fear lets us know that, when successful, we will achieve something great, something worthwhile.
Fear is your compass towards success. Remember – the risk and the investment come first, the wealth comes second.
And the difference between courage and stupidity is preparation, not fear. Courage is prepared effort in the face of fear. Stupidity is, well, not 🙂
Be prepared, and orient yourself towards your fears. With each step you come that much closer to your goal.
