Happy Monday team!
This past weekend we had a small appreciation party for the staff — I just want to reiterate how grateful I am to have these men and women as part of our program here. I don’t speak much (publicly, anyway) about my past experience as a student and athlete in combat sports, but I did not have a supportive coach or gym owner throughout my career and found myself in a number of challenging situations in which my own personal development, safety, and even mental health was compromised.
The fact is, whether we realize it or not, we are extremely vulnerable as students and often don’t know the difference between good and bad gym culture when we start out. We tend to just take things at face value and blindly trust the authority of whomever is standing in front of the class.
So with that said, these men and women are incredibly positive forces and genuinely put their heart and soul into the work they do. I trust them entirely and am so proud to see them constantly put a genuine and professional effort into their efforts here. So, thank you!!
On the heels of that, we have some more super fun stuff this week. TONIGHT is our Summer belt promotion day!
Monday BJJ is normally a nogi class on the schedule, but bring your gi! We’ll do our best to get through the promotions in a way that both keeps it moving along, but gives everyone their moment. Open mat is to follow.
