SEASONS
WEEK OF 3/09/26
Nearly 70 degrees over this weekend, a true messenger of Spring in the air. The seasons are changing.
We accept the cycles of nature — how they effect everything from the grass on the ground, to the behavior of the birds in the sky.
We don’t, however, accept very much that our own habits are linked to the seasons as well.
People, largely speaking, are significantly more influenced by their environment than they’d like to admit. When faced with challenges, we tend to react predictably, regardless of how we internally perceive them.
Point being, don’t beat yourself up about missing some training over the last few months. It’s been hard for a lot of people, and we tend to “hibernate” a bit indoors when the outside world gets inhospitable.
Similarly, don’t feel self conscious about returning back to a more active lifestyle. This is normal — everywhere in nature we see it happen. However in speaking with students, they sometimes worry that they’ll be the embodiment of some silly motivational wall art from Target. And in doing so, hesitate.
Embrace what you’re feeling. If you’re feeling a little sluggish, be sluggish. If you’re feeling super active, get out there and get to work. As a coach I only ask that you hold on to your training, and understand that what we do here isn’t seasonal. It’s potentially lifelong. It’s a thread that runs through the tapestry of your life, it’s a source of character growth and wisdom to help you in tough times, and it’s also just a lot of fun with a lot of cool people!
