What a challenging week to basically get anything done! Snow, freezing temperatures, and so on and so forth. Yuck.
As such was a little slow on the mats but big props to everyone who made it out to train! I know it wasn’t easy. I live three blocks away, this is my job, and it still wasn’t easy 🙂 That said we’re getting back towards “normal” this coming week so hopefully you’ve all dug out your cars, broken in your new snow boots, and are ready to get back to it! There’s work to be done!
Real quick, big shout out to the crew here at the gym who organized our Women’s Muay Thai Open Mat. We had over 40 athletes from all over the area training here yesterday and just a ton of great vibes all around. For some of our students here, it was their first time training in the martial arts community at large which is always an eye opening and exciting experience. We’ll make sure to do another one soon.
A few things coming up in the next few weeks —
First, Dashaun Kimp makes his Muay Thai debut at Battle In The Basement 19 in NYC. The event will be held at Church Street Boxing in the Financial District (about as downtown as you can get in Manhattan) and tickets are $45. Next, I’ll personally be out Monday 2/9 through Sunday 2/15 at a Jiu Jitsu training camp in Innsbruck, Austria. I’ll be fully connected to email, phone etc. but, like, if you need something important.. get at me soon 🙂 I’ll be on European time and may take a little bit to get back to you. Our schedule won’t change that week and every class is still on as normal.
And then the following week we are back in action in Wilmington, Delaware with Gut Check Championship Series! Althought it’s unfortunate Makhi Anthony’s opponent dropped from the NYC card two weeks prior, we were able to find him a spot on this event and he’ll be joining Ayden Southard and Xavier Taylor for a night of Muay Thai and Kickboxing action. We hope to have tickets soon although they will be available at the door regardless.

- 2/21 – Gut Check Championships in Newark, Delaware featuring the Muay Thai debuts of Xavier Taylor and Ayden Southard. Tickets available soon.
