RIDE THE WAVE
WEEK OF 8/25/25
If there’s one lesson I’ve taken from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it’s that you have to learn to ride the wave.
Some waves are big and choppy. You may have to scratch and claw just to keep yourself above water.
Some waves are smooth and low, and you can ride them out to the shore.
Regardless, you can’t control the wave.
Keep your board waxed and stay light on your feet and everything will work out the way you want it to — or it won’t.
But either way, you can’t control the wave. So just plan on managing it as best you can and enjoy the ride.
Am I talking about a tough Jiu Jitsu round? A hard pad round in Muay Thai? Business? A relationship?
Yes 🙂
This doesn’t mean that we are entirely subject to the “waves” around us. We can prepare. We can scout. We can practice. But any attempt to control the wave when it hits is futile. At that point, it’s simply time to get to work and do our best.
