THE RED CORNER
NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
WEEK OF MAY 5th, 2025
Happy Monday Team!
We closed out a big effort this weekend with the ISKA National Tournament in Delaware. Six of our athletes competed en route to a #3 overall team placement and two gold medals!
Both Gianna Vadino and Tim Green closed out their divisions en route to the championship in their advanced divisions. And with that comes an invitation to compete again on the ISKA US National Team later this year in Brisbane, Australia!
Sam Coffin put together two strong wins to make the finals and walked away with a hard earned silver medal.
Pat, Andy, and Elijah had great (and very close!) performances but did not advance in their division. Overall a 5-4 day with plenty of highlights and no major injuries. Can’t ask for more.
And a HUGE shout out to Coach Bill for the expert corner work!
We are back in action with coach Tre fighting June 7th in Delaware and Gianna defending her WCMT and WBC title on June 27th in Queens, NY.
Also, parents — apologies for getting my dates wrong for the youth events. We will be hosting our Spring Fling in Vernon Park on Wednesday, May 21st and our Muay Thaigers Short test is the day before (Tuesday, May 20th). May 19th is set for classes as normal.
You can register your child for our shorts test here: Muay Thaigers Level 2 Shorts Test
Stay posted for our Memorial Day Weekend holiday schedule but typically, at a glance, we host an open mat on Saturday and are closed for regular classes on the holiday. Our exact schedule is TBD but we will keep you posted!
See you on the mats!
