CASTING SPELLS
WEEK OF 2/3/25
Wizards, dragons, magic spells. The stuff of Fantasy, right? And an appropriate topic now that the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to debut this year on HBO (a fantastic companion piece to the A Song of Ice and Fire written by George R. R. Martin).
Previously I’ve written about “authority” – the condition of being an author, and writing the story of your life. This is often retrospective, a way to create meaning out of the events in your past.
Today we are talking about magic spells. About how to create a powerful future.
Not the “avracadabara” kind or the crazy stuff you see in the movies.
We are talking about real magic. The kind where you can bring something from thought, to design, to existence. The kind where you spell it out on paper or into sound and it becomes real.
Words and writing alone aren’t enough, though. You need conviction, initiative, and follow through.
With these magic ingredients you can cast even the most powerful of spells.
Go ahead and try it right now!
“I will…” You will what? What is it you want to do? What is your plan, your design? Will you see it through?
“I will eliminate all junk food from my diet for a week.” POOF, it’s gone.
“I will prioritize exercise this month.” ZAP, there you go.
“I will believe in myself even when I go into unfamiliar territory–mentally, emotionally, physically, or otherwise.” BOOM, done.
Casting spells is simple, we can all do it. We can create magic out of ordinary words if we believe in them enough.
And, quite often, these spells don’t work the first time. The trick is to repeat them over and over and over again until they start to stick. Until they pass through the veil of the imaginary world and take hold in your life.
It’s really only a matter of speaking the words enough, and then following through.
Just like the most important things in life: simple, but not easy 🙂
See you on the mats!
