WEEK OF JANUARY 27th, 2025

 

Happy Monday Team!

Quick one for you today, as we don’t have much extra stuff in the pipeline over the next two weeks or so.

Big thank you to everyone who came out this Friday for our “Snow Ball.”  I apologize for the assault on your ears with my karaoke but hopefully you’ve all since recovered (Coltrane did a good job of smoothing all that over — although next time we’ll charge a cover if he decides to get back on the mic!).  As promised I did my 10:15pm Irish Goodbye and got a good night’s sleep — Saturday was a long and intense day of sparring at our friends’ academy, King Street Kickboxing, up in Pottstown.  I need my beaty rest!

In regards to Friday, though: I’m no stranger to literature on leadership, power dynamics, etc etc.  My educational background is in education, and my career choice has necessitated that I learn something about making decisions 🙂

With that said, a long time ago I read somewhere that one of the most powerful actions you can make in a position of leadership is to introduce people to each other.  Whether this is actually true or not, I’m not sure.  But it’s something I’ve taken to heart and have put my faith into.

We initially come to the gym for self defense, fitness, confidence, or something else.  We typically stay because there are good relationships there that keep us accountable and focused on our goals.

Increasing your network inside the gym will have a direct, positive result on the progress you can make.  It’s really that simple.  I hope you all had an opportunity to connect, have some fun, make some new friends, and bring that energy back into the gym.

We’re planning on an in-house fight night (not, like, between the students, but watching a UFC event on a projector) as well as an upcoming “Spring Fling” sometime in mid May.

Until then, train hard, I’ll see you on the mats!
