AUTHORITY
WEEK OF 12/2/24
“History is written by the winners.”
You may have heard that expression before. Winners decide how the past is remembered. They have the authority to dictate – they are the authors of history.
If we want to achieve high levels of success in whatever goal we’re pursuing, we must establish and take authority (author-ity) over our lives. We must write the story ourselves, not have it written for us. History is written by the winners, after all.
This goes all the way back to the ideas of ownership and responsibility. If we are unable to own our mistakes, or take responsibility for our actions, then it will be impossible to take authority. Because by being helpless against changes in the tides, or shifts in the direction of the wind, we lose the ability to steer our own ship, and instead become subject to the forces acting upon us.
We are not always in control of our surroundings. In fact, we rarely are.
But we are always in control of our reactions, and how we choose to write the chapters of our lives and how they unfold.
Do we choose to be victims? Or do we choose to be opportunists?
That’s up to you, and the story you want to tell.
