NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2024

 

Happy Monday Team!

Was able to take a quick hop down to Florida to see some family this weekend, then it’s off to the races again as we head to Los Angeles for a WBC Title Fight (more details below).

Before all that, we have a couple cool things in the works this week so grab a seat and let’s get into it!

First, our now-quarterly BJJ open mat and promotion night is set for Tuesday @ 7:30pm!  We’ll get right to the recognition and promotions, then finish up with an open mat to close out the night.  This open mat is both gi and nogi, although we do ask that you wear a gi at the beginning for the photo and formality etc etc.  I’ve been feeling great and I’m personally excited to get a few rounds in.

Wednesday is the true start date of coach Valor Boyer.  Unfortunately, even BJJ blackbelts tap out to the seasonal flu and we gave coach Valor the night off to rest up and recover (and, of course, not spread any germs).  We’ll see him start his tenure here on Wednesday at 7:30pm for Jiu Jitsu 201 NoGi!

And then on Saturday, Gianna Vadino takes on the West Coast in a WBC Interim Title Fight against one of California’s top athletes.  We fly out Thursday for a huge Thai Festival weekend featuring arts, food, a super seminar with Buakaw, Saenchai, Yodsanklai, and Duangdawnoi — and culminating in the Major League Muay Thai show of which we are featured.

Somewhere inbetween all that stuff I hope to rollerskate the Strand in neon spandex and live out my California dream.  Hopefully there will be time.

We get right back to action with Grappling Industries the following week as well.  Busy busy busy!
