MONDAY MINDSET: FEEL DEEPLY, ACT DEEPLY
WEEK OF 6/24/24
Feel Deeply, Act Deeply.
That first half–feeling deeply–that is something we can all say we experience.
Sometimes it just hits you like a tidal wave, a deep feeling of motivation or interest or affection. Whatever it is, it hits you hard.
And sometimes, we define ourselves by how deeply we feel. Because we can be so overwhelmed by these feelings, they become integral to who we are.
The problem is, nobody else can feel what we feel. They can’t experience our sense of dedication or appreciation. They simply can’t relate to our experience in any tangible way.
It’s important to understand that we can only truly communicate our feelings through actions. If we are feeling deeply, we must act deeply.
If we are feeling fed up with our poor diets, to the point where we feel like we have hit the bottom, we must act deeply and take concerted, immediate steps towards aligning our feelings with our actions.
If we are feeling inspired to train, we must act deeply and get on the mats and train. And train. And train train train.
If we are feeling affection for a partner, we must act deeply–go above and beyond around the house, do the extra chores, whatever.
Because, again, nobody can feel what you feel. You can only convey that through action.
Acting Deeply means to immediately take productive steps towards the goal. It does not mean that one should do hours of “research” on the internet, scour Amazon.com for the best products to help you, or post on Facebook about how one’s grand plans to turn their life around.
Those are not Deep Actions.
Deep actions include getting off the couch and going for a run. Cleaning the bathrooms in your house because it will please your partner. Throwing out all the junk food in your cabinets. Whatever.
Those are Deep Actions. And the funny thing is, we are all aware of what the Deep Actions are. There is no confusion there. If we want to lose weight, we have to Act Deeply and stop eating crap. We know this, intuitively. So it is not an issue of ignorance–it is an issue of inaction.
So if you are feeling deeply about something–give yourself a swift kick in the butt today and make something happen. Act Deeply!
