MONDAY MINDSET: WHAT WE DO IN THE DARK WILL BE BROUGHT INTO THE LIGHT
WEEK OF 5/20/24
What we do in the dark, will always be brought into the light.
If you could boil down the lessons I’ve learned from my competitive fight career into an easily digestible nugget, this would be it.
Fighting not only shows you who you are, it shows the world who you are. It brings the work you’ve done in the relative darkness of the gym into the bright lights of the arena.
It impresses upon you an inevitability of success or failure predicated upon your commitment (or lack thereof) to prepare.
Those who prepare, win. Those who do not prepare, lose. There is no negotiation, manipulation, or bribe that can change the outcome.
Whether the world at large obeys these fundamental rules is still up for debate.
But I choose to live in a world where hard work equals success, where consistency and discipline develop character, and where skinny bookworms from the Midwest can become successful fighters if they’re willing to pay the dues.
What world do you choose to live in? And what work are you willing to do in the dark, without recognition or fanfare, in order to enjoy the bright lights?
