WEEK OF 4.22.24

 

Happy Monday Team!

Wow.. what a weekend.  Three events over two back-to-back days and over a dozen competitors!

On Saturday, Isis Toledo competed in the Place of Peace invitational BJJ event.  She dropped a competitive decision but showcased some solid, aggressive jiu jitsu throughout the stretch of the match.

Across the bridge, in Broomall, PA, we had a number of our grappling students compete at the Grappling Industries tournament.  Big congrats to Madison George, Milla Janick, Ryan DeRobertis, and Kelsey O’Brien on their gold medal finishes.  John Martin took second in his division and John Janick and Ben Langer both missed the podium but put on some competitive performances in their respectively tough blue belt divisions.

We had matches spanning from 11am to about 8:30pm on Saturday so it was a marathon team event.  Thank you to the coaches who came out to support and guide the athletes to victory — Tenzin, Chris, and Matt.  Appreciate you guys!

On Sunday, we fielded a crew of six athletes at the 8 Limbs MOC Competition Sparring Event.  Strong performances again from the team — Neiko, Renee, Ken, Sam, Andy, and Pat all showcased a robust skillset of good timing, good decision making, durability, and conditioning.  Thanks to Gianna, Rob, John, and Larry for helping out!

We have one weekend off from competition coming up, then it’s back into the fire — Tim Green and Coach Tre step back into the ring at the ISKA East Coast National Tournament on May 5th, and one week later Gianna Vadino will be defending her Warrior’s Cup Championship Belt against one of NYC’s top fighters.

It truly takes a team to get this done — from the coaching staff building out and managing the training infrastructure, to the students and athletes maintaining the standard, to the family and friends providing support off the mat.  Thank you for the great efforts day in and day out.  It’s wonderful to see the hard work come to fruition for everyone.
