NEWS AND UPDATES FROM THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY IN PHILADELPHIA

 

Happy Monday Team!

We are wrapping up the first month of the new year already.  It’s crazy how quickly time flies — but looking back, we’ve already accomplished so much!

Our Slamboree event this month was packed — we graduated over 8 new students into our Striking 201 program, and welcomed two Jiu Jitsu athletes into their new ranks.  Big congrats to Grant Boyd on his blue belt and Hiago Barreto on his purple belt!

Looking forward, February will be starting out with a bang as Gianna Vadino makes her Mixed Martial Arts debut this weekend in Orlando, Florida.  We’ll have PPV/Streaming info available as we get it!  Gianna has been working hard and we are excited to see how she performances under the MMA rule set (and maybe catch an hour or two by the pool as well).

February will see some class changes as well.  We’ll have more information shortly, but at a glance we will add a competition training session on Saturday afternoons (11am) as well as an MMA class on Thursday evenings.  Both sessions will require coach’s approval to attend.  Stay posted!

Additionally, please note — our Friday night Jiu Jitsu 101 drills are cancelled this week (just a heads up)!  This class will resume the followin gweek.

 

Lastly, we will begin requiring class registration and attendance in February (our goal is the first week of the month).  To get ahead of the curve, download the MyStudio app on Android or Apple and use the studio code “2158485454” to link up with the gym.  There are a dozen good reasons why managing and tracking attendance are important — I’ll send out a separate update with some compelling ideas down the road.
