NEWS AND EVENTS AT THE NORTH STAR ACADEMY IN PHILADELPHIA
Happy Monday Team!
We are finally back to our regularly scheduled programming here every Monday!
In October, we were told that our gym management software — which basically runs scheduling, tuition, e-mails, and everything in between — was literally closing up shop in December. It was a mad rush to move everything over to a new service and we have (mostly) emerged in one piece from the effort.
One major casualty in that transition was the Red Corner e-mail, which I had been faithfully sending out every week for over three years!
I often tell others not to let perfect be the enemy of good, but here I am delaying the re-launch of the newsletter simply because the new available format isn’t “as good” as it once was. Well, the only constant in life is change, and sometimes that change isn’t for the better.
As ideas and opportunities arise to improve this weekly newsletter emerge, I’ll make sure to capitalize.
With all that said, we have a ton of really cool stuff coming up. Here’s the lowdown:
First, make sure to catch Coach Tre as he steps into the ring right in our own backyard this Saturday evening at Freedom Fighters in Philadelphia! Tre takes on a tough Southpaw in a full rules Muay Thai fight and tickets are available at the front desk (only about 10 remain). The venue is up near Franklin Mills so just a hop, skip, and a jump from the gym. Catch a night full of elite Muay Thai action and be home in time to get a good night’s sleep 🙂
Second, this month’s Slamboree event will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd! We will be running testing into 201 and 301 Striking at 6pm, and our Gi class will feature promotions and open mat from 7:30pm on. Make sure to see a coach if you have any questions!
Lastly, we will begin requiring class registration and attendance in February (our goal is the first week of the month). To get ahead of the curve, download the MyStudio app on Android or Apple and use the studio code “2158485454” to link up with the gym. There are a dozen good reasons why managing and tracking attendance are important — I’ll send out a separate update with some compelling ideas down the road.
In the meantime, get the app set up and familiarize yourself with the flow. And if you have any questions shoot them over!
