Happy Monday Team!
We are CLOSED today for regular classes, but we’ll be hosting an open mat from 10am – 12pm (approximately). All students are welcome to attend and mess around on the mats! We’ll be running 5 minute rounds on the timer and the rest is up to you.
Have any family or friends in town for the holiday and want to show them your new skills? Bring ’em by! Just make sure to brief them on our shoe/floor policies etc etc. We have some loaner equipment that we’ll be offering up for the open mat.
We’re back to our regular schedule tomorrow, too. Thank you to the staff and students for holding it down while I took care of my move — I am now an official resident of North West Philadelphia! Yay!
Remember, we’ve made two small changes to the schedule that take effect this week:
- Saturday’s Jiu Jitsu 201 class has been changed to “Judo 101” — this is a gi class for all levels focusing on the standing game of Judo/Jiu Jitsu and will absolutely level up your standup game. It is also a great compliment to our clinching class on Thursdays!
- We’ve added a Jiu Jitsu 101 (No Gi) class to Wednesday nights, running concurrently with our Jiu Jitsu 201 (No Gi) class at 7:30pm. Compression tops or moisture wicking tees are mandatory. No sleeveless tops!
At the end of the month, we’ll be welcoming World Competitor and BJJ Ninja Rene Sousa back to the gym for another masterclass in the art. This is a No Gi sessions scheduled for Thursday, September 28th at 7:15pm, and is open to all North Star Jiu Jitsu students!
Rene competes on the world stage and is one of the best to be doing it right now. You can’t possibly ask for a better experience!
I’m excited to get back into the rhythm with everyone and especially look forward to the stability and routine of the Fall season coming up. We have a lot of big things in store — keep working hard and stay posted. I’ll see you on the mats!
