Monday Mindset: Morning Routines
Pretty basic, pragmatic one for you this week.
What you do upon waking up sets the tone for the day. Personally, I walk the dog (she’s gotta go!) and reflect on the coming day, take my vitamins (10 capsules), and then do a quick 10 minute stretch routine. Every day.
Why?
Establishing a routine of self-care empowers you to take greater measures for yourself throughout the day. I’m not a psychologist. I don’t know why. I just know it works.
The quality of this routine doesn’t need to be high; that’s where people get jammed up. Your mind will try and trick you by telling you things like “well, if you’re not running 10 miles every day, then you might as well just do nothing.”
That’s not your logical side talking. That’s your lazy side talking, disguised as your logical side.
Keeping yourself accountable to a morning routine will absolutely reinforce the more important things you are accountable to: training, diet, family, and so on.
I challenge you to establish and maintain a simple and easy morning routine (if you are not already doing it) for the next 21 days. Wake up 15 minutes earlier than normal if need be.
It’s worth it, because anything that helps you stay committed to your goals and improvement is always going to be worth it.
