Happy Monday Team!
Back to work after a long but successful weekend in New York. Big thanks to the crew that spent their entire day driving in and out of NYC to catch Tre and Gianna make the walk into the ring. That’s a huge effort and I know the fighters are so grateful for your support!
Tre fought a tough fight and it wasn’t for a lack of effort, but he dropped the decision to a more strategic opponent. Gianna was able to finish the fight in the 2nd round with an elbow and become the new Freedom Fighters Featherweight US Champ! This opens up some cool opportunities for Gianna to defend that belt against the top athletes in the country.
We return to ring action at the end of the month with the WKA National Tournament in Delaware, and possibly a smoker this coming weekend (like, I know, I should know, but I’m still waiting for confirmation).
Additionally, we have a Women’s Only Open Mat for BJJ this Friday @ 7pm (our regularly scheduled nogi open mat is cancelled). This is open to all female students of the academy, as well as members of academies abroad, and is going to be a really fun get together. Gi and nogi rolling is on the menu so bring whatever and be ready to train hard and meet some new people!
In the meantime we have tons of work to get done on the mats so make sure to gear up and toss your hat into the mix.
We will be running an adjusted schedule at the end of the month to accommodate the Labor Day Weekend. Stay posted for details in the coming weeks. |
