You may notice that this Monday Mindset section is being delivered on a Tuesday. Well, I gave myself a break over the weekend to enjoy some much needed family time — and whenever possible, you should too.
The goal of training in any martial art is not necessarily going to be a belt (black belt or championship belt or otherwise). These are great to have, and represent an amazing amount of work and sacrifice.
But the goal is just to have a well balanced and healthy life. Martial arts can be an integral part of that balance, providing stress relief, confidence, physical fitness, and a supportive community.
It doesn’t always have to be go-go-go, work-work-work. Putting too much pressure on yourself will cause you to crack. Remember: healing and recovery are half of progress. And that includes mental and emotional recovery as well.
Allow yourself to breathe, allow yourself to heal, and allow yourself some distractions. Just make sure you’re getting the work in the other 99% of the time!
