For any of you younger students who are yet to move out on your own for the first time, here’s a piece of advice: buy the toiler plunger before you need it 
As martial artists, we too need to invest in ourselves so that when we are called upon to act in an emergency, we are prepared with the proper tools, training, and state of mind.
We don’t purchase the figurative toilet plunger knowing if, or when, we’ll use it. We simply buy it because it’s better to own one that collects dust, than need one and be lacking.
Your training is the same way. Keep it on hand, keep it ready, and in any emergency you will be ahead of the curve. You don’t need a world championship fight on the horizon to keep you consistent in your pursuit of mastery. Readiness is reason enough.
