Picture this — you’ve been running around all day, and at your last stop you go to pull out your wallet to pay for something and, whoops, realize it’s missing. What do you do?
A reasonable person would retrace their steps — can you tease out any moments where you might have taken the wallet out? Can you eliminate any locations or stops? Are there any places that would be ideal to scope out first?
Point being, we have a process for situations like this. We retrace our steps by going back to the beginning, and walking ourselves through each step a few times until a pattern or solution emerges.
Training is no different. We are all on a path towards mastery, but invariably you will leave some important things behind.
In fact, you will always learn the most important things first. So when we realize we are missing a piece, the solution is to go backwards, not forwards, to find it.
Make repeated reviews of the fundamentals a core element of your education and you will find that, with each review, you learn more and more. |
