Thank you for your interest in our submission grappling program here at The North Star Academy!

Our program is headed by coach Jackson Galka, a first degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Phil Migliarese and a former professional MMA fighter.

New students begin in our Jiu Jitsu 101 classes, which operates on a 6 month rotating curriculum that takes a deep dive into the fundamentals of the arte suave.

This fundamentals program does require proper attire. Students will need a Brazilian jiu Jitsu gi and/or Nogi apparel (rash guard and shorts) depending on the specific class. Please note that no uniforms or equipment are provided in the trial and that you are responsible for purchasing or providing the proper equipment/apparel in order to participate.

Students with previous jiu-jitsu experience are welcome into our 201 level classes on the trial as well.

We take a very concept-based approach to our jiu-jitsu here at the North Star, with an emphasis on discovery based learning and positional sparring.  Sign up for the trial today and see for yourself what we’re all about!
